"The Democrats now have a 75 percent likelihood of controlling the next Senate, possibly by a comfortable margin."
After weeks in which the fate of the Senate simmered at nearly even odds of flipping for Republicans or remaining in Democrats’ control, the outlook has shifted dramatically in the Democrats’ favor. The incumbent party now has an 80 percent chance of retaining its majority, according to the Signal’s prediction model.

Obama’s uncle detained by immigration officials
Onyango Obama, an uncle of President Obama, was arrested last week on suspicion of drunk driving in Framingham, Mass. and is now being held on an immigration detainer, authorities confirmed Monday to multiple media outlets.
Obama, who is the half-brother of the president’s late father, was arrested Aug. 24 after failing to completely stop at a stop sign and nearly causing a “cruiser to strike his sport utility vehicle.” When police administered several sobriety tests, he allegedly failed them, according to reports.
And as he was being booked, guess who he wanted to call?
“I think I will call the White House,” he stated, according to a police report.

Who is giving to Obama? California and Comcast Employees:

Employees at Comcast, the nation’s largest Internet provider and the parent company to NBC Universal, donated more money to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fund-raising committee for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee, than employees at any other organization, according to a new report from the Center for Responsive Politics.
Comcast workers donated almost $200,000 this year to the fund, which raised nearly $40 million through the end of June, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.
Regionally, the Obama Victory Fund relies on California, New York and Massachusetts for nearly half of its donations. Gifts from California comprised a quarter of the president’s war chest with $9.9 million. Illinois, Obama’s home state, came in fourth in the Center’s analysis with $2.5 million in donations.

Michigan Democrats switch congressional districts to circumvent redistricting woes

A Republican-led congressional redistricting plan in Michigan has complicated the re-election plans of John Conyers and Hansen Clarke, two Democratic representatives from the state. But the lawmakers have found a novel way to avoid that challenge: they’re switching their Detroit-area districts.

“Rep. Hansen Clarke looks forward to running for reelection in the new 14th congressional district of Michigan!,” freshman Clarke tweeted Sunday.

The 14th district is currently represented by Conyers, a longtime member of the House.
